Welcome to ‘Shaune Ritchie Racing’
One of New Zealand’s most successful thoroughbred training operations.
Located in the heart of thoroughbred racing in Cambridge, Shaun Ritchie Racing is well established as a leading New Zealand training stable, with over 280 wins and $6m in stakes to its name.
Since beginning his training career at the age of just 15 with the wildly successful Bonecrusher, Shaune’s career has followed a successful trajectory, building to Shaune Ritchie Racing’s stellar reputation today. It is no surprise then that prominent owners such Gerard Peterson, Windsor Park Stud, Mick Dittman and Sir Patrick Hogan are among his stable of owners, as is a powerful presence of Hong Kong based businessmen.
Shaune, who has most definitely inherited the Ritchie ‘way with people’ and natural horsemanship, attributes his ability to attract and retain a loyal client base as one of his greatest assets.
The title of NZ Trainer of the Year 2009/10 does not come easily, and a large number of successes over the career of Shaune Ritchie have contributed to the internationally-reputed stables that he operates today. The following are just some of these successes:
The third trainer – behind the legendary Colin Jillings and Dave O’Sullivan – to win the NZ Derby and NZ Oaks in the same season (2009/10)
2009 New Zealand Cup Winner
A Desert Gold Stakes
Metropolitan Trophy Winner
Prepared the Hong Kong Gr.1 winner Thumbs Up prior to his NZ departure
The NZ Derby winner Military Move left the Ritchie stable with the perfect start to his career en route to Sha Tin
Shaune Ritchie Racing’s honour roll extends far beyond the successes above. The full honour roll can be viewed here.
The comprehensive facilities at Shaune Ritchie Racing means they are available to assist you with all your thoroughbred racing requirements.
With stables located right across from the Cambridge Jockey Club, Shaune makes great use of the training facilities available including five different grass tracks, sand and plough, a swimming pool, and jump-out gates.
He only allows up to 2 horses per paddock in a quiet farm environment day and night, and trips to Raglan Beach and Ruakaka in the winter are also part of Shaune’s bid to secure an advantage over his peers and give the horses in his care every opportunity.
He wants his clients to have the best experience too, and he would love to have you along for the ride!
Shaune Ritchie Racing charges a very competitive daily fee of $NZ65.00 plus GST (15% Goods and Services Tax).
