Welcome to 'Tony Pike Racing'
'Class A' Public Trainer
About
Tony Pike commenced his training career in the Millenium year, and what an impressive 15 years it has been for the licenced trainer whose professional career had previously been that of a qualified Accountant.
Tony and wife Kirsten train on the Cambridge Training Centre, living right next door on a 16 acre property, which holds 50 boxes and allows them the option of either the training centre environment or the home environment – and with state of the art facilities and a staff of 16 you could only expect the very best.
The Early Years
As a very young man Tony had been a highly successful show jumper and having a Dad with an Owner Trainers licence, Tony rode trackwork for both his father and also for the barn of Alan and Linda Jones. That experience was to hold him in good stead in the years to come. A stint in Sydney with Gai Waterhouse and Rogerson's also added to his knowledge and although then choosing to work as an Accountant for the next 4 years, his racing background would soon call him upon him and eventually he left accounting and took up training.
Initially, without not a lot of set up capital, he traded horses to the Asian racing market and as business became more viable he expanded his ownership base and increased the quality of the horses he was able to retain.
Notable Successes
The 40-year-old boasts an impressive record; a particularly good strike rate is one of them but during his relatively short career he has amassed over $5.5million in winning stake monies, has won 21 Group and listed races and in the previous season had 9 Group 1 placings.
This season Tony Pike Racing has also trained the Best Stayer and the Best Sprinter in the country, whilst able to peak his horses for the bigger races, this is also the ultimate aim to continue to produce Group 1 winners.
