The RG Check Accreditation Panel is responsible for awarding accreditation.
RG Check Accreditation Process
The RG Check Accreditation process differs slightly between land-based venues and iGaming sites. Below, you’ll find the steps and scoring criteria associated with each.
Achieving venue accreditation
As part of the application process, RG Check staff will provide the operator with the RG Check Handbook and discuss the responsible gambling program currently in place. Once the decision is made to proceed, the process will follow the steps below:
- Data gathering, including documentation and a staff survey, to understand the existing responsible gambling landscape
- Assessment of procedures that guide how responsible gambling initiatives are implemented and managed
- A two-day site visit that includes a self-exclusion demonstration, staff interviews, and a survey of patrons
- Scoring, report writing, and quality assurance
- Draft report provided to the venue for feedback
- Final report of findings and recommendations is reviewed by the Accreditation Panel
- Decision to accredit is conveyed to the venue
Accreditation is granted for three years. At the end of that time, you may apply for re-accreditation for another three-year period. During your accreditation term, you will be asked to complete an annual update checklist.
If minimum accreditation requirements are not met at first review, RG Check staff will work closely with the operator to implement program improvements. Operators have six months to address the issues outlined in the report and submit a request for reassessment. RG Check’s commitment is to ensuring operator success.
Accreditation scoring for venues
To achieve accreditation status, venues must receive an overall score of 70% or higher, with a score of 50% or higher for each of the eight standards. As indicated below, scoring has been weighted to provide greater value to those standards deemed to be most important.

---|---|
Responsible Gambling Policies | 20% |
Employee Training | 15% |
